ABOUT ME

tTo  Start I would like; to say that my name is just John, Not johnathen or johnny :) I have always liked photography from way back in high school when i got my first DSLR, I loved skiing and downhill mountain biking I still do but it was watching all those ski movies and bike movies collecting the posters and i remember thinking that would be the best job in the world, to travel and shoot those sports. As time moved on I drifted away from those activities and photography  and finally starting to get back into it all i rememberd how much fun its was. A friend of mine purchased his first DSLR a Nikon D5200 and i thought what a good idea I remembered how i liked it and decided to buy the same, it was a fantastic idea and while I was camping with my Dad when by accident I discovered Astro and Long Exposure shots I was amazed at what these camera's could pick up that your eye couldn't see, At this point none of my photos where very good but I was having fun, fast forward a few years to a trip i took to  vancouver with my girl friend it was on this trip about a year and a half ago that the stars aligned and I got my first really good shot. The Bridge shown in the URBAN section of this page,

From this point on i watched a lot of videos on photography and different groups from landscape to macro I began trying a little bit of everything making sure to just shoot my camera a ton. For any People looking to get better just go out and shoot a ton it doesn't matter what your shooting try dirrernt settings just play around Memory is cheap, make sure to learn from what doesn't work and what does it is the shots that didn't work that teach us the most. I eventually sold my D5200 to a college from work and made the jump to full frame buying a D750.

This camera blew me away with what it  could it do and opened a new world of possibilities that sadly ended to soon, i was on a camping trip shooting the river when the camera decided to go for a swim. That was a hard time as i had saved for awhile to buy it and now it just like that it was gone. It took me about 6 months of not having a camera  in which time i was forgetting some of things i had learned, but I made the most of it buying a go pro and playing around with time-lapse's.  I now shoot a nikon D810 which i have had for around 5 months I am really looking forward to this summer and am expecting to bring my photography to the next level.
